Jen and I met in Mystic, Connecticut as crew on traditional schooners.  After a few seasons I wanted to go South and she wanted to go North. We split the difference and landed in Annapolis--- she working as Senior Design Associate in Niermann Week's paint studio and I building all kinds of furniture for them.  After the birth of our daughter, we took our passion and knowledge to Maine.  We have been building custom heirloom furniture for both individuals and designers since 1993.

Elkins & Co., Inc is a small family-owned shop.  With intensive experience in exotic veneers, inlay work, special finishes like gold and silver leafing, and decorative painting, we deliver the precise look and feel our customers demand.  And, our 30 year work history with several of the industry's top design firms has given us the

opportunity to build in multiple styles.

Part of the joy we experience in producing finely-crafted custom

furniture comes from the relationship that develops between builder and customer. Knowing that the wood specifically chosen and crafted to exact specifications will

be cared for by succeeding generations gives us a lot of pride.

Many of our customers return year after year to add to their collection!

One of our five men or women cabinetmakers builds your piece from start to finish.
